Details of principle and terminology:

What is a negative image ?

In photography, a negative is an image, usually on a strip or sheet of transparent plastic film, in which the lightest areas of the photographed subject appear darkest and the darkest areas appear lightest.(from Wikipedia)

What is a positive image?

A positive is a film or paper record of a scene that represents the color and luminance of objects in that scene with the same colors and luminances (as near as the medium will allow). Color transparencies are an example of positive photography: the range of colors presented in the medium is limited by the tonal range of the original image (dark and light areas correspond). It is opposed to a negative where colors and luminances are reversed: this is due to the chemical or electrical processes involved in recording the scene. Positives can be turned into negatives by appropriate chemical or electronic processes.(from Wikipedia)

Each pixel contains four components of the red \ green \ blue and transparency channels.

In this app, transparency channel's value is related to its summation of red 、green and blue value for each pixel.

1.Negative Mode

Opacity is negative correlation to value of its brightness for each pixel itself.

2.Positive Mode

Opacity is positive correlation to value of its brightness for each pixel itself.

The canvas dimension on quantity of total pixels will be limited within 400M.

For example, you can set the canvas dimension max up to

20,000 X 20,000

200,000 X 2000

400,000 X 1000

......
